InsertLead vs REI Reply — full feature and pricing comparison
REI Reply and InsertLead both target real estate wholesalers, but the model is opposite. REI Reply rents you their Twilio numbers and bundles SMS into a $99/month plan. InsertLead is a Compliance Wrapper around your own Twilio account starting at $49/month with no SMS markup. The biggest functional difference: InsertLead's AI autoresponder reads every reply, qualifies the lead, and hands off when warm. REI Reply uses templates only and your replies sit in your inbox unread until you get to them.

Pricing comparison
REI Reply's published price as of April 2026 is $99 per month for the standard plan. SMS sending is bundled into a credits system; per-message economics aren't broken out separately on their pricing page. Sourced to reireply.com.
InsertLead's Starter plan is $49 per month. SMS billing happens directly on your Twilio account at Twilio's published rate (~$0.0083 per outbound A2P 10DLC segment as of April 2026). Anthropic API is BYOK, so any AI cost is billed directly to you by Anthropic.
For a 2,000-lead-per-month wholesaler, all-in monthly cost on InsertLead Starter typically lands at $49 + ~$25 in Twilio + ~$3 in Anthropic = ~$77/mo. REI Reply at $99/mo includes the SMS line but not separate Anthropic-grade AI.
SMS model and number ownership
REI Reply provisions Twilio numbers on your behalf within their account structure. The convenience is real — you don't have to register A2P 10DLC yourself or buy numbers manually. The trade is that those numbers and the A2P registration are theirs. If you leave REI Reply, you don't take the numbers.
InsertLead's BYOT model means: you sign up for Twilio in your name, register A2P under your EIN, buy your own numbers, and paste credentials into InsertLead. Setup is 1-2 hours longer but the assets are yours forever. More on BYOT.
This shows up most when sender reputation matters. With REI Reply's pooled numbers, your messages share carrier reputation with every other REI Reply customer. With InsertLead BYOT, your reputation depends only on your own behavior.
AI autoresponder vs templates
REI Reply ships with template-based outreach: rotate through a small library of pre-written first-touch messages. Replies from leads land in your inbox; you reply by hand or with quick-reply suggestions.
InsertLead does that and adds a Claude-powered autoresponder layer:
- Every inbound reply is read by Claude Haiku 4.5.
- Claude scores intent 0-100, drafts a reply in your voice (first name only, no em-dashes, A2P-compliant), and sends it from your Twilio number on a human-paced schedule.
- Across the conversation, Claude extracts four qualification fields: motivation, condition, timeline, price.
- When a lead asks to talk OR two of those four fields fill in, the AI sends a one-line bridge text and the lead lands in your Hot inbox warm.
The practical effect: you spend less time re-reading conversations to figure out which lead is real. Read the full autoresponder flow.
CRM and pipeline features
REI Reply has lead-tagging and basic pipeline tracking. InsertLead has:
- Drag-and-drop kanban CRM with Cold / Warm / Hot / Follow-up stages.
- Inline notes on every lead, saved instantly.
- Live status updates across multiple browser tabs.
- Hot inbox count in the sidebar that updates live as the autoresponder hands off leads.
- Audit trail on import batches so you can see every list a lead was part of.
This is the kind of detail that matters when you're running 5,000+ leads through a pipeline. At a few hundred leads, both tools are functionally similar.
Which fits which kind of wholesaler
REI Reply is the better fit if:
- You want zero technical setup — sign up, send a text in 5 minutes.
- Your monthly volume is under ~500 texts and the bundled $99 covers it cleanly.
- You don't need AI autoresponder, just templates.
InsertLead is the better fit if:
- Your volume is anywhere over a few hundred texts a month and per-message economics matter.
- You want to own your A2P 10DLC registration.
- You want the AI autoresponder + qualification + handoff flow.
- You want a real CRM (kanban, notes, status changes) on top of the messaging.
